Wanaka Trail Ride date confirmed for 2018
Organisers of the Wanaka Trail Ride are thrilled to announce that preparations are well underway to host the 4th annual ride on Sunday April 22nd 2018.
The unique event offers an all-abilities trail bike ride over Deep Creek, Long Gully & Lindis Peak Stations, giving riders the rare opportunity to explore private high country farmland while taking in views over the Southern Lakes and Central Otago districts.
“The amazing feedback from this year’s event will help to make next year’s ride even more epic,” says Trails Manager Grant Cagney. “The tracks which include family, intermediate, advanced and expert trails, as well as a pee-wee track, are being reviewed, tweaked and extended to give riders varied and challenging tracks to explore.”
“We’ll keep many of the loops with stunning views over Lake Wanaka and Hawea towards Mt Aspiring National Park and down over Lake Dunstan, and plan to extend the family track giving younger riders more trails to explore, as well as adding a new single trail to challenge expert riders to the max.” says Cagney.
Entry prices will remain the same as 2017 with incentives to pre-register and registration opening 6 weeks prior to the ride. “Our pre-registration process ran like clockwork last year resulting in a smooth start to the day for riders with no queuing required.”
Wanaka Trail Ride was established in 2015 as a joint fundraiser between Wanaka Primary School and Montessori Children’s House Wanaka.
All funds raised from the Wanaka Trail Ride are split between the two schools. In addition, one dollar of each entry fee is donated to the local RSA in recognition of the event taking place on ANZAC weekend.
